Mon Visage en Bleu Pastel 18x12 |
As a plein-air oil
painter, Sean Daniel's work could be described as representational
in nature. The movement and thickness of his brush strokes give his
work a defined sense of musical flow and brightness. Daniel's
artistic freedom brings freshness to the lyric subjects of his work.
The strength of his compositional unity imbues Sean's style with
immediacy, quickness and dramatic excitement. When first viewing his
work, one immediately sees a strong emphasis on the compositional
message. Only then can a viewer gaze upon colors and technique,
which his strong sense of emotional composition imparts.
Sean's painting
"Calla and Rose" won First
Place for Florals in the Oklahoma Art Guild's 2009 Fall Show. This
painting is currently shown on the
Still Life page in this Website.
Born in Pennsylvania, Sean received his education at Syracuse
University, Indiana University and in Stuttgart, Germany as a
Fulbright Fellow. Having received many research grants to France,
Daniel feasted on paintings of the French Impressionists in Paris,
Bordeaux, Nice and Antibes. At various workshops held in the
Rockies, he studied with famous artists Michael Lynch, Mark Daily
and Ray Vinella. He also spent a semester working in oils at the
Denver Art Students League with Mark Daily and Kim McKay.
Sean gives One-man Art Show/Recitals featuring slides of his plein-air
oil paintings combined with songs in English. He has had One-man Art
Show/Recitals in Oklahoma at the Philbrook Museum in Tulsa and the
University of Oklahoma in Norman; in New Mexico at the College of
Santa Fe; and in Montana at the Geoffrey Smith Gallery in Billings
and the Depot Art Gallery in Red Lodge. |
